Inspired by Korean Slipware and Western culture, this work pokes fun at the idea that to allow a material quality to be exhibited in a western gallery it must be disguised as a piece of conceptual art. Stealing a much-admired materiality and placing it in a fine art context, I’m consciously playing with the irony that in commenting on conceptuality this piece has become conceptual.
