Explorations of form and process; thrown on the wheel and distorted by hand.

Each vessel plays with asymmetry starting out rounded then being distorted using flat panels to create forms that are simultaneously rounded yet geometric, soft yet hard.

The outsides are left raw, without glaze, allowing the clay to take on a very contemporary satin-matt finish and leaving every detail of the making process on show. The throwing lines made by the hand on the spinning clay, the marks left behind from the wood distorting the clay, the thinned rim, every detail of the clay is highlighted.

The insides are glazes with a clear glaze simultaneously ensuring their functionality whilst providing a subtle glossy contradiction to the matt exterior. This range of vessels were created from four clays: White, Sandstone, Red and Black.

These are still vessels that I love making; please get in touch if you interested in purchasing or commissioning this range.
